Sticks and Stones

Posted: August 7, 2011 in Uncategorized

I am sure at some point in our lives we have all either used or heard the phrase “Sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me.” Do you really believe that?????

God’s word has alot to say about words and their effect on you. We must realize what power our words can posess. Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Proverbs 16:24 states “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” From this one verse we see that it is the very words that we speak that are healing to the bones. Proverbs 12:18 “Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Again we see that our tongue can posess the power of healing. (Also check out Proverbs 12:14, 13:3, 14:3, 15:4)

I want to ask, WHAT ARE YOU SPEAKING?

The words you speak are vital to your health and well-being. I believe that we can affect our atmosphere (including our physical bodies) by the words we speak. Many people today are in need of healing, yet they talk sickness and suffering until they establish that image in them. Their thoughts and words produce a vivid blueprint, and they live within the bounds and limitations of that blueprint. God’s Word draws a clear blueprint for healing in your body, and as you speak His Word you will begin to live in that environment.

It has been medically documented that there are thirty-nine major diseases that exist. From those thirty-nine stem various other sicknesses and infirmities, minor colds, aches and pains, but there are thirty-nine which are the umbrella for all. Isaiah 53:4,5 “He has borne our sicknesses and carried our diseases. By his stripes we are Healed.” Do you remember how many stripes Christ took on His back? Thirty-Nine! Praise God! Psalm 103:2,3 “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” Notice that it says ALL of your diseases.

Mark 11:23 “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea, ‘and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.” This mountain was a figure for an obstacle, a hindrance, or humanly insurmountable problem. None of which are impossible for God. Notice the verse said that you are to speak to the mountain. God has given us the authority, through Christ, to use His Word to open our mouth and speak what we desire to see. The mistake most Christians make is that they speak what they see, not what they desire to see. They call things the way they are instead of calling those things that are not as though they were.

STOP TELLING GOD HOW BIG YOUR MOUNTAIN IS AND BEGIN TELLING YOUR MOUNTAIN HOW BIG YOUR GOD IS!

MAKE SURE YOUR WORDS ARE SOFT AND SWEET; BECAUSE ONE DAY YOU MAY HAVE TO EAT THEM!

DO MORE THAN JUST TALK: SAY SOMETHING!

True Love

Posted: April 29, 2011 in Uncategorized

Proverbs 19:22 “What a man desires is unfailing love.”  We all seek a love that does not fail us and hope to find a love that will not let us down.  No one wants to be in a relationship that is one sided.  Where can we find this “True Love” and what exactly is it?  We need not look any further than the Word of God to find the answers to these questions.

“True Love” lays down its life for others.  John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for others.”  We must be selfless if we want to walk in love.  Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others.”

“True Love” is sincere.  Romans 12:9 “Love must be sincere…”  Love can not be imitated, and should come from the center of who you are.  We must leave behind flirtatious actions and start practicing a love that is genuine and sincere.  1 John 3:18 “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”

“True Love” is revealed on the cross.  1 John 3:16 “This is how we know what love is: Jesus’ Christ laid down his life for us.”  Our desire for unfailing love can only be met by God whose perfect love was most clearly demonstrated to us by him sending his son to die on the cross.  If we do not understand that concept, we will spend our entire lives searching for “True Love” and will ultimately be searching in vain.  Let your search for “True Love” end at the cross.  Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, true and perfect love can be known, it can be experienced, and it has been demonstrated.
